Project materials
Materials are stored against a project and company workspace. Each record can track the item, quantity, unit, supplier, purchasing status, and cost information.
The Project Materials section summarizes the number of items and how many are Ordered, Received, or Installed.
Add a material
From the Project Materials section, choose Add Material.
Material name is required. Quantity must be greater than zero, and unit cost cannot be negative.
If no unit is entered, LupinusBuild stores the material using each as the default unit.
Category and supplier are optional. An item without a category is displayed as UNCATEGORIZED.
Material costs
When cost access is available, the material form includes Unit cost and a calculated total.
LupinusBuild recalculates and stores total material cost whenever a material is created or updated.
Material status workflow
Authorized users can move materials forward using quick actions such as Mark Ordered, Mark Received, and Mark Installed.
A full status control is also available for authorized users.
Material permissions and cost visibility
Material access is divided into separate capabilities instead of treating every material action as one permission.
Create materials
Controls whether a user can add material records.
Edit materials
Controls whether a user can edit an existing material.
Delete materials
Controls whether a user can delete a material.
Update status
Controls whether a user can change material status.
View material costs
Controls visibility of unit cost, total cost, and aggregate material cost.
Edit material costs
Controls whether the unit-cost value can be changed.
Users without material-cost access can still see operational information such as material name, category, quantity, supplier, and status without seeing unit cost or total cost.
Materials and project actual cost
Project material totals contribute to the project's actual cost. As material costs are recorded, they become part of the financial picture used to calculate actual project profitability.
This keeps operational purchasing records connected to the financial results of the project rather than maintaining material spending as an isolated list.
